Technical Overview:
Digital Fountain’s (DF) ToughStream™ is a portable, scalable, and flexible solution that enables highly-efficient and reliable streaming transport over impaired IP-based networks. At the core of ToughStream resides DF Raptor™ Forward Error Correction (FEC) technology.DF Raptor is the leading application layer FEC technology; it has been adopted by IPTV and cellular operators, and endorsed by industry standards worldwide.

Solution Overview:
The ToughStream™ solution consists of a software Server Client pair. The Server software, which can be installed on most standard hardware platforms, is placed in a Video Headend, and the Client is placed as a library in a Set Top Box (STB).

Server Software:
The ToughStream™ Server receives and transmits the original source video stream packets unchanged. A protection process is initiated on receipt of the source stream, allowing repair packets to be generated and injected into the network on any address and port to be received by the client.

Client Software:
The ToughStream™ client receives the original video stream and any lost packets are recovered using the received FEC protected repair packets. A clean stream is then presented to the decoder and application.
